I used a spotlight on Jonny's face in order to add intense lighting. This was done to make these shots slightly abstract and very dramatic for when he is in intensive care. I wanted to show the frustration of him being in hospital.
I taped some string onto the video camera with some gaffa tape so that I could then feed the string through the hole of the lighting bar. This was so that I could spin the string but at the same time pull the camera away from Jonny's face so that it was zooming out. I used a lighting bar so that the shot was still because if I had just used my hand then the shot would have been shaky.
The difficulties I found with this was getting the camera to move smoothly and not too sharply. I wanted it to spin in a neat circle so that it wasn't too distracting for the audience and they could still work out what was happening.
I think my actor found it hard too because the spotlight was very strong and hurting his eyes and therefore I needed to make sure that I did my filming quickly and sufficiently.
