Close-ups of the artist and star image motifs.
The record labels actually demand to see the artist in a lot of close ups, in the music video to be able to publicise the artist. The close ups help the audience to recognise and remember the artists due to these close ups. So therefore the majority of narrative and perfomance and sometimes even conceptual videos contain close ups.

Star image motifs - Coldplay is an example of a band who have a real star image motif as all their videos have the same concept the singer/band in a close up either walking or standing still with the mise-en-scene changing behind them throughout the video. This makes the audience and their fans to remember the band for this technique that has been produced by editing.




I am going to make sure that I use a lot of close ups of my artist, and use them quite regularly.
