What is the relationship between lyrics and visuals?
Goodwin said that in some way every music video contains a link between lyrics and visuals. This technique is very common in narrative music videos as it helps the audience to understand the story.
There are three ways in which this can be done.
Amplifies - This is when there is a very strong and blatent link between the lyrics and visuals.
Illustrates - This is a subtle link between the lyrics and visuals - so maybe it is written down.
Contradicts - This is when the lyric completely contradict the visuals, for example the lyrics were about a hot place but they were in a cold place in the music video.
I am going to do this in my own music video by writing down the lyrics in the sand (illustrated)
I am going to amplify this by using links such as when the lyrics says ' my wincing eyes' I am going to have a shot of his eyes.
