Lester Allen is a real friend of mine and my family and has been through troubled times, suffering with the influence of alcohol and the horrible illness skizofrenia. All this resulting in him trying to comit suicide, which is hard for everybody who knows him to reminisce. When in the process of recovering this trauma, Lester had an amazing oppotunity to join Goldie's Band and perform infront of the royal family and Buckingham Palace. This was shown a while ago now on BBC2 but has helped him to recover and has done wonders for his career in music. He is an extremely talented singer, songwriter and tends to write songs that mean a lot to himself and the people who know him. He tells his life straight in a song, and does it with such passion, he is simply a miracle.
I have chosen Lester because I feel that his music is very different to the charts, it is slightly folk, and very passionate, a little like Bob Dylan. I think that young people would be able to really look up to him as an iconic person, especially if people out there dealing with metal illnesses are listening. He may not be to everybody's taste but that's another reason why I have chosen him because his music is very different and I can use this to create an original music video.
